Breathe in for five seconds. Hold for five seconds. Exhale for five seconds. Hold again for five seconds. During each five-second count, draw one side of a box in the air. Repeat the process for one minute.
Facing a partner, players slap their legs and say "boom," then point in a direction (either up, down, left, or right) and say, "chhh." This pattern repeats until both players point in the same direction. At that point, they slap their legs on the next "boom," then point at each other and say "woo!" The players return to the boom-chhh pattern until they point in the same direction, which is again followed by a boom-woo sequence.
Take a deep breath, then exhale and brush your hands across parts of your body. Work from the head down to the feet. Become aware of all parts of the body while releasing tension through the breath.
Players stand in a circle. Player A points to Player B and asks, “Yes?” Player B gives permission by saying, “Yes,” then Player A moves to Player B’s spot. Player B points to someone else and asks, “Yes?” When a “Yes” is received, Player B moves to that spot. This pattern continues.
Make fists with both hands. Extend the pinkie of one hand and the thumb of the other. Then, simultaneously switch which hand has the pinkie and which has the thumb extended. Keep switching back and forth.
Two players play characters who are having an argument about something important. When a person outside the scene calls “switch,” they instantly take on the other character’s point of view in the argument.
With the left hand, create a square in the air by drawing down, out, up, and in. With the right hand, create a right triangle in the air by drawing down, out, and diagonally up. Then draw both the square and triangle at the same time so that it looks like this:
Players close their eyes and count the number of different sounds that they can hear—near and far, loud and soft. After one minute, they see if they heard any sounds that others didn’t.
Player B puts forward an idea with a certain level of commitment, either low, medium, or high. Player A does a pushback that matches Player B’s level of commitment. Then roles are reversed and the process is repeated.
Two players sit on side-by-side in chairs doing nothing. There is no setup or context. Neither one says or does anything until an impulse arises. When an impulse shows up in a player, it is acted upon. The other player doesn’t immediately respond, but rather soaks in what just happened. If soaking it in causes an impulse to arise, the responding player follows it. If not, they do nothing. This process of being present and responding to impulses as they arise continues until the exercise is stopped.
