There’s a lot of useful software out there for training and putting on a show. Here are a variety of useful apps that come in handy, and they’re all free.
Google Docs* – Transcribe voice to text. (web)
Gimme Getter – Get random suggestions, including emotions, status behaviors, lines of dialogue, and more. Also tracks time and keeps score.

Speechnotes* – Transcribe voice to text. (web, Android)
Scene timer – Track the length of a scene with a visual a two-minute warning and end-of-scene notification.

Audacity – A multi-track audio editing and recording program. (Windows, Mac)
Figma – A user interface design program for web development. (web)
MultiPlay – A cue-based program for audio cues. (Windows)
Pictochart – A visual content maker for slides, posters, and more. (web)
QLab – A cue-based program for audio, video and lighting cues. Look for the free version. (Mac)
SlidePlayer – An add-on for Microsoft PowerPoint that pulls names from the Volunteer app and creates custom spect invitation slides during a performance. (Windows)
Timelinely – A video annotation program that adds notes, links, and recordings to specific sections of a YouTube video. Useful for creating game tapes. (web)
Volunteer App – An sign-up app for audience members to volunteer as spects. Names are instantly uploaded to an online spreadsheet. (web)
