 » Mingle and group

Players move randomly through the space without making physical contact. The leader calls out a number and players gather into groups of that number. Players make physical contact with every other person in their group. The leader calls, “Mingle,” and all players resume moving randomly through the space. Different numbers continue to be called.

Variations

Shapes – Geometrics shapes are called out and players gather in groups to represent the designated shape.

Words – A number and a word or phrase is called out. (E.g., “Four. Garage sale.”) Players gather into groups of the specified number and enact the word or phrase.

Proximity – The leader calls “Stop” and all players must be able to touch at least one other player without moving from their location.

Slow-mo sticky – Players move randomly in slow motion. When a number is called, players stick together in groups of that number, while continuing to move in slow motion.

Notes

  • Add urgency by calling out a five-second countdown by which everyone must be in a group.
  • This exercise can be used to randomly divide players into breakout groups of a desired number.
