Responding to offers


There are a multitude of ways to respond to an offer. Here’s an overview of some of the most common.

Accept – Treat an offer as true.

Block – Treat an offer as untrue.

Follow – Go along with the intention behind the offer.

Resist – Go against the intention of an offer.

Build – Add new details, relevant to an offer.

Amplify – Give an offer more emotional weight.

Parallel follow – Make an offer that’s the same as another offer.

Complementary follow – Make an offer that’s related, but not identical to another offer.

Inverse follow – Go along with the player’s intention behind the offer, when it’s different than the character’s intention.

Stroke – Reward a spect’s offer with positive reinforcement.

Take the hit – Be emotionally changed by an offer.

Reveal – Share new, important, and often surprising information.

Take responsibility – Assume the blame or credit for an offer.

Pushback – Go against the perspective of the offer.

Status shift – Change your physical status because of an offer.

Concurrent emotion – Embody an emotional perspective while the other player is making an offer.

Emotional sound – Respond with a sound that communicates your emotional perspective about an offer

Ignore – Make an offer that’s unrelated to the previous offer.

Bend – Reinterpret an offer so it fits within the given context.
