Deep listening

paying attention to more than just words

Words are key to communication. So is the information that comes in other forms. It may be a tone of voice, a facial expression, body language, something implied, or something inferred. Deep listening absorbs all this information.

Physical cues give you insights into spects’ feelings and points of view. Reading between the lines helps you pick up on what’s implied. Paying attention to subtle clues helps you infer more than is spoken. Respond to their implications as well as their words.

When you listen deeply, you can respond more fully.
