 » Begin and end

Players do a simple activity that involves an object. Then they break down the activity into segments. They do the activity again, saying “Begin” at the start and “End” at the completion of each segment. The activity is repeated a third time, without saying “Begin” or “End.”

Variations

Subdivide – Break down the movements into smaller segments.

Timing – Vary the time it takes to complete each segment of motion. Vary the time between each segment of motion.

Emotional begin and end – Do scene in which the start and completion of each emotion has a “Begin” and “End.”

Notes

  • Do activities that involve more than just the hands.
  • Don’t “blur” the movement; be specific.
  • “Begin” and “End” should be said when the body is not in motion.
  • Good for making more precise space work which makes it easier for spects to understand what is going on.
