 » Secret endowment

Player A secretly selects one of the following elements to endow Player B with:

  • a profession or occupation
  • a point of view
  • an emotional state
  • a goal

Player A endows Player B’s character by making oblique offers. When Player B knows what is being endowed, they state it explicitly as a part of the scene.

Variations

Dual endowment – Both players endow each other’s character with a secretly selected element at the same time.

Dog pile – Multiple players work together to endow an aspect of Player B’s character.

Called secret endowments – Players are given character descriptors to endow another player with. E.g., stupid, violent, easily shocked, nosey, delicate, intelligent, irritating, supportive.

Notes

  • This exercise is good practice for endowing spects with character elements.
  • When endowing, don’t instruct or demonstrate. Use oblique offers that imply the endowment.
  • If Player B is struggling, be more obvious without making a defined offer.
