Say a random word. Then say words or phrases that are all related to the first word. Track how many words or phrases are generated in one minute.

Grandpa - pipe, workshop, gray hair, grumpy, stern, wrinkles, skin cancer, old-man breath, camping, honey-do list, big hands, long stories, precise, never cries, cutting the lawn, shaving cream.

Variations

Periphery circle – Players stand in a circle. A starting word is given. Then players call out associated words.

Periphery mime– Players stand in a circle. A first word is given. Players step into the circle and act out an associated word, phrase, or concept. Other players in the circle guess what the associated element is.

Notes

  • This helps build out details and specifics that are relevant to a story element.
  • Words should only be related to the first word given.
  • The number of words generated can be tracked by a partner or by using the Gimme Getter.
