 » Called scene boosters

Players intentionally play a scene that is going nowhere. After a while, an outside observer calls out a scene booster from the list below, which one of the players applies.

  • Change a piece of clothing
  • Change your physical position.
  • Change your point of view.
  • Confess something.
  • Discover something great or horrible.
  • Discover something unexpected.
  • Encourage the other character.
  • Endow the subtext.
  • Gasp.
  • Give it weight.
  • Have a strong emotional shift.
  • Make an observation about the other character.
  • Make physical contact with the other character.
  • Make something personal.
  • Move closer or farther away from the other character.
  • Move to a different physical level.
  • Pick up something.
  • Raise the stakes.
  • Realize something.
  • Reveal something.
  • Say the wrong thing.
  • Shift your status.
  • Start laughing or crying.
  • This is the first or last time you’ll ever do this.

Variations

Life saver – When one of the players feels the scene has gone nowhere long enough, they call for a scene booster.

Notes

  • Scene boosters can also be generated using the Gimme Getter.
