In interactive performance, trust is more than a platitude. Saying that you trust someone is nice, but it doesn’t mean anything until it’s put into action. Trust is demonstrated through the risks that players are willing to take with each other.
You are playing Wall crash in which you walk across a room with your eyes closed. Two people are at the far side, ready to stop you before you crash into the wall. You start off at a brisk pace, but the farther you go, the more it feels like you’re about to face-plant into the wall. Everything in your body says to slow down. The way you demonstrate trust is to keep moving quickly, in spite of what you feel.
Typically, trust develops over time, but it can also be given before it has been earned. This is known as entrusting.
