It’s possible to speak without knowing what you’re going to say. You don’t know what will show up until the words have been spoken.
It takes courage and practice to release control over the words that come out of your mouth. When allowing uncontrolled language to arise, you may feel responsible for what you say. Set that feeling aside. The words that show up are not a reflection of some deep, dark secret. They’re just words. They’re all part of the fiction of play. Don’t judge yourself (or others) when practicing this skill.
The sensation of speaking before you know feels a bit like vomiting. Stuff rises out of you all on its own. It takes a lot of practice to master this skill, but it’s worth the effort. When it happens, you’ll know it. It’s as though you’ve tapped into a source that flows from someplace other than you.
When you can speak before you know, it’s easy to respond to anything because you don’t have to think. The flow just happens.
