Off-roading

following spects when they take the story off-script

When playing from an interactive script, hold the scenario lightly. The goal is still to play the spect’s story. When spects take the story in unexpected directions, go with them. This is known as off-roading.

Going off-roading doesn’t mean you have to abandon the script entirely. There may be ways to incorporate elements of the script in the new direction that the spect is headed. Sometimes the unexpected journey will bring you back around to the original scenario, but there’s no need to force it.

Scripts offer a possible journey, but when spects take you elsewhere, enjoy the ride. Go off-roading.
